A striking piece of vintage European textile art, this new old stock Rukotvorine Zagreb woven throw dates to approximately the 1970s and retains its original paper tag. Produced in former Yugoslavia, the textile features richly textured traditional folk motifs in vivid red, cream, yellow and black.
Repeating geometric diamonds, stylized floral forms and intricately woven horizontal bands create a wonderfully graphic design, while generous cream fringe finishes the edges. The combination of bold color and substantial texture gives the piece a distinctive handcrafted folk-art character.
The original Rukotvorine label identifies the piece as a “weaving with folk motifs” and lists its composition as a cotton and polyacrylic blend, with polyacrylic used in the decorative work. The original tag remains attached, making this an especially appealing example for collectors of vintage Yugoslavian and European textiles.
Measuring approximately 51″ x 67″ (130 x 170 cm), it is ideally sized as a decorative throw. Drape it across a sofa or chair, layer it at the foot of a bed, or display it as a dramatic wall textile. Its saturated colors and dimensional woven surface work beautifully in eclectic, collected, bohemian and folk-inspired interiors.
